Dear lizard friends,With this site we want to provide insight into the species complex of the lacertid lizards, the Lacertidae, and hope to bring this group of animals closer with the following pages. These pages are presented with active support from the Lacertids working group of the DGHT - German Society of Herpetology and Herpetoculture. Please help us to improve and extend this site. See our Help us page for instructions. Without this help, our site would not be what it is today, containing 17685 pictures and 41 videos (by 1496 authors), 16035 references (6690 with summary, 9967 with attached pdf and 608 digital book links) and 228 online articles (by 81 authors).
Our breeder list shows the contact information of well-known and trusted breeders. Thus we hope to contribute to the preservation of our captive bred species, and the abolishment of wild-caught animals. More contact information on specialized publishers, organizations, academic institutions and private pages related to our topic can be found on our links page.
In addition to the printed magazine DIE EIDECHSE, the online magazine L@certidae and online articles, we also show our literature- and poster projects, including the reptile of the year 2006, the common lizard, reptile of the year 2011, the wall lizard, and reptile of the year 2020/21, the sand lizard. Information on the www.lacerta.de team and contributors can be found on the legal notice page. How we deal with your privacy can be read in our Privacy Policy. The remaining major topics are always accessible through the menu at the top of each page.
