  A study of marginal and island populations of Lacerta muralis along the Atlantic coasts of France and Spain. The forms exhibit a tendency towards partial melanism, with an increase in black markings on the body. A particular form from Mount Urgull and Santa Clara Island near San Sebastián, Spain, is described as a new subspecies, L. m. sebastiani. Islands and promontories known to host wall lizards are listed; the systematic status of their respective populations is specified.
